A previous solo-electronic version of “These Nightmares” was created by Matteo Uggeri in 2004, and recorded on minidisc. The PC he had used was later on stolen, so these minidisc tracks were the only things that had survived. In November 2005 Uggeri gave the track for the “One Year (later)” compilation to the Sine3pm netlabel, with the title “Will these Nightmares Even End?”. Then, in 2007, Alberto Carozzi added the acoustic guitar, and a few months later Franz Krostopovic recorded the violin tunes; in 2008 Cristiano Lupo’s hi-hat and snaredrum where recorded. Then the song was extensively mixed by Uggeri again.
Field recordings were recorded in Notre Dame - the Paris cathedral - during the funeral wake for Giovanni Paolo II in April 2005; and again in 2004 at Lupo’s sister’s volley match in Merate.
